JOB ANGELS On Twitter! And Twittering To Barack Obama About Helping the Jobless Find Jobs (With Great Job Resources)

angelYes I “tweeted” to Barack Obama. He’s seems a grass roots kind of person, so today I sent him a note via Twitter to bring to his awares the FABULOUS grass roots effort of the @JOBANGELS Team on Twitter.

What is Job Angels? A volunteer group of folks from all levels of professional culture that work to connect job seekers with jobs! I’m totally impressed with the diversity of the Job Angels team which includes executives, PR specialists, resume writers, recruiters, sponsors you name it — all volunteering their time, skill or networking ability to help people. And working together with common purpose and embracing diversity is exactly what makes good stuff happen.

Job Angels!

What do Job Angels do? They don’t just send shout outs about jobs available, they also send shout outs about the (talented) folks seeking jobs and link to that person’s profile, site, linked-in or twitter page. So talent gets propagated via Twitter, those hiring get the word out about jobs they need done, and that’s how Job Angels helps job seekers get connected with jobs. Everything starts with “1” – helping even one person makes all the difference. I’ve offered to help Job Angels, and if you can, help spread the word. Hope someone on Barack’s team got the Tweet to pass it on too! 🙂

I also discovered numerous helpful resources for job seekers (list below), and met some truly giving individuals. So here’s a “shout out” of my own to a few really special folks like: the Job Angels Team Leaders for ANSWERING ALL REQUESTS for help (which they do!), to @DonnaWard whom has contributed numerous job leads for everyone on Twitter, to Donna Marie Antoniadis, who co-founded She’s Connected, a multi-profile social networking site just for women, to @AlisonDoyle, for assembing a GREAT list of job sites and career experts on Twitter (among many other things), and @mikebrown for always being there with encouragement and creative inspiration. (Thank you!)

You’ve done it again – great list and comprehensive list of resources! Thanks for doing this for everyone out there who is going through hard times and looking for a job right now.

I would like to add one to the list – TalentZoo.com They have a great career newsletter that comes out weekly and touches on some of the issues facing today’s job seekers. It is mainly for PR, Marketing & Media jobs but the advice for job searching they give is applicable to any field. They are also on Twitter @TalentZoo and @TalentZooJobs
